Leigh McClure

Leigh McClure has spent most of her professional career advocating for causes she believes in. End AxD is one of those causes. Being in a position to help raise awareness and support research and development of a treatment and eventual cure of Alexander Disease is incredible. It is a privilege to work for a cause that is so important and will literally change lives.

Prior to her work at End AxD, Leigh served in several governmental affairs roles. She began as District Director for former Congressman, Zach Wamp, where she managed the local office for the 3rd district of Tennessee. From there she was the Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development / Special Projects for the Southeast Tennessee Development District serving 10 counties. She worked with local elected officials to secure funding for important community needs through multiple federal and state agencies. Leigh led efforts to expand broadband into underserved areas in our region, brought together stakeholders to address the need for access to healthcare in our rural communities and helped in the struggle to find solutions to the overwhelming problem of opioid addiction in Tennessee. As Manager of Government Regulatory Affairs for Tennessee American Water, Leigh was responsible for introducing policy to safeguard the water supply, incentivize infrastructure investment and protect the company and rate payers against unnecessary regulation. Each position solidified her understanding of how good policy decisions have a direct effect on people’s lives.

Leigh graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. In her spare time, you will find her, with her husband Jim, playing golf, teaching 1st grade Sunday School, or spending time with their kids and grandkids.
